Style Guide
Master the shift from winter to spring. Learn when to swap heavy wool for mid-weight fabrics for your February wedding. Shop the collection at KCT Menswear.
The suit that keeps you comfortable at a January wedding will suffocate you at an April reception. Fabric weight is the invisible difference between a suit that works and one that fights you—and February is when Southwest Michigan grooms need to think about the transition.
Understanding Fabric Weight
Heavy Weight
12-14 oz • Nov–Jan
Heavy wool and flannel (12-14 oz) are built for Michigan winters. Great for outdoor photos at Henderson Castle or Stonebridge Events. By late February, they feel like armor indoors.
Mid Weight
9-11 oz • Feb–Apr & Oct
The sweet spot. A 9-11 oz wool handles heated ballrooms at Kalamazoo Country Club while providing substance for chilly outdoor moments. The most versatile weight you can own.
Suits at KCT in this range start at $249 with free basic alterations. Stretch suits in mid-weight are great for long receptions.
Light Weight
7-8 oz • May–Sep
Lightweight wool, linen, and linen-blend suits breathe and drape softly for outdoor ceremonies at Bay Pointe Inn or Gull Lake Country Club.
Lighter fabrics wrinkle more—our on-site tailors know how to maximize both comfort and shape.
The February Decision Point
February/early March: mid-weight (9-11 oz). Late March-April: lighter (8-9 oz). May+: lightweight. Come into either KCT location and feel the difference in person.
The KCT Standard
